Art With A Purpose
"What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead."
Nelson Mandela
Our mission at Fountain of Hope Art and Craft is to provide a platform for local people to harness their artistic potential and acquire practical skills in crafting beaded items, thereby creating sustainable opportunities to generate income and build a brighter future for themselves and their families.
The organization is based in Masiphumelele (Masi), a township located on the Cape Peninsula in South Africa. Life for the people of Masi is a constant struggle, many live in grinding poverty, scraping out a meagre day-to-day existence. Masiphumelele, is a Xhosa word, which means “let us succeed,” an aspiration that Fountain of Hope is helping to make real for the people who live there.
Beyond its commitment to skill-building and entrepreneurial development, our organization also meets the immediate needs of the community through a daily nutritious meal program for the hungry children in the area.
Our latest community initiative, the Back-to-School campaign, supplies the township children with basic school necessities, replacing bare feet and worn out sneakers with proper footwear and clothing, giving every child the dignity and pride they deserve.
Thank you for visiting Fountain of Hope Art and Craft and join us in sculpting dreams, crafting hope, and empowering lives.
